Ring Of Fire
Caught in the ice
preserved, magnified
yet still as lively
as Fall itself.
A ring of leaves
crimson veined,
shot with gold
edged with a
lingering green
to set the heart
longing for spring
to break winter
into chunks and channels
which frees
the ring of fire
to spin down the river
one last time, astonished.
