Faerie House AUCTION!

Greetings Everyone!

Up for auction starting April 1st (and no this is NOT an April Fools Day joke!) is this very special jewel-like Faerie House which I created for two reasons. The first reason was to celebrate my NEW publisher Amber Lotus ( more news about that in the Blog and in the newsletter) and the second was to help support the local animal shelter, the North Country SPCA.

Here are some views of this special little house:

As you can see the house is small enough to fit in your hand. But it has many special features and is very sturdily built so it will easily become an heirloom should you wish to pass it along.
The first thing to notice is the magical Water-lily blossom which adorns the roof. This is made from dried seed pods which have been assembled to look very much like a Golden water-lily. There are 6 micro LED lights which are embedded in the tips of the "petals" of the blossom to provide light at twilight, plus the interior is lighted as well. (more pics below).  There are jeweled vine features that rise and spiral up from under the blossom and the faceted beads collect and refract the light in a most magical way.

The inside of this sweet little house is equally enchanting with hand-made rice paper wall paper, 3 lattice windows, a canopy of golden stars overhead and a glittering Faerie-sized bed with matching star-encrusted spread. It is difficult to see in these pictures but here is one taken before the orchid-purple felt floor was installed.
There are crystal green leaf sconces which illuminate the interior and two more lights under the eaves of the house to illuminate the face of the house when the lights are turned on. The door is very special with a hand-made glass leaf-shaped window installed that gently glows when the lights are on but the door is closed. There is a Tree fungus stair step to give a soft transition to the interior of the house. Here is a detail of the door under construction and another construction view to give you an idea of the size of the house:

Here is a top view of the Lily roof to show how the house looks from above. As you may be able to see, there are peachy-pink crystal glass beads tucked deep in the petals of the flower to simulate drops of dew which often are present on real water-lilies. One very special opalescent bead crowns the blossom and its rainbow hues attract the Faeries like magic!

The door is especially nice on this house with a red-garnet bead for a doorknob and a fully articulated hinge that allows the door to open wide so viewers can see inside easily. On either side of the door are some specially selected polished river stones. The roof is also made from panels of Golden Birch bark, collected up in the mountains and matches the bark used on the door, which has some extra lichens on it for decoration.
Green blades of rice paper "grass" rise up at each corner and are finished with a delicate spiral. A delicate trim of mossy grass decorates the edge of the roofline as well at around the base of the house and the yarn used has extra sparkly bits in it which really show up nicely when the house lights are turned on and it is dark outside.

Please let me know if you'd like to see any additional views of this wee house or if you have any questions.

About the auction: a substantial portion of the proceeds from this auction (30%) will be donated to the North Country SPCA. As you may be aware, this winter was particularly brutal in our area and many people had to give up their animals because they could not afford to feed their pets and heat their own homes, so heart-breaking stories seemed to be a constant this winter. As a result, the shelter is over-flowing with dogs and cats who have been abandoned, surrendered or dumped. 3 cats were dumped in my neighbors yard when it was 25 below zero at night back in early February. We were able to rescue them and two have been able to make it into the shelter for adoption. (the third is still being fostered). The need for support is very great now. I wanted to do something to help raise awareness and some additional funds for the shelter so this little house auction is a way to help out.
